Biodiversity Project receives Wege GrantDecember 29, 2009 Biodiversity Project is proud to announce that we have received a generous grant from The Wege Foundation in support of our continued efforts to protect the Great Lakes by creating an informed and energized public.
Through this grant, Biodiversity Project will:
• conduct a front-end evaluation of the communications initiatives planned for the Great Lakes
• create an integrated Great Lakes communications strategy that supports specific policy initiatives and is inclusive and integrated with other communication projects in the region.
The Great Lakes are finally getting the much needed funds that will help secure their health and protection into the future. With this new federal investment, we will finally begin to see the clean-up of Great Lakes Areas of Concern and the implementation of strategies that will address invasive species, non-point source pollution and habitat restoration.
Because this is a unique and exciting time for those of us dedicated to the Great Lakes, it is more important than ever to get the American public excited about the Great Lakes. Unfortunately, as proven by our past Great Lakes public opinion research, the public is woefully uninformed about the poor health of our lakes, and thus is uninspired to care for them.
Biodiversity Project will use this grant from The Wege Foundation to lay the important groundwork for a long-term, Great Lakes basin-wide strategic awareness and action campaign.
