Past Programs: Making the Biodiversity-Sprawl Connection

In 2000 the Biodiversity Project commissioned opinion research to help understand public perceptions and attitudes regarding sprawl and its impact on biodiversity.

Based on this research, we produced "Getting the Message: Making the Biodiversity-Sprawl Connection" (December 2000). This "message kit" focuses on raising public awareness of the impacts of sprawl on biodiversity, and strengthening the communications strategies of organizations working to prevent sprawl. The two part kit consists of educational fact sheets regarding sprawl and biodiversity to be sent to decision-makers, journalists, and other interested parties; and communications sheets to help nonprofit organizations develop and refine effective communications strategies and messages.

As a supplement to the message kit, the Biodiversity Project and Green Team Advertising also produced a series of ads that incorporated our sprawl and biodiversity messages. These print ads were intended for placement in local papers, or to be used as poster or fliers in local businesses, in organizational materials, or on websites. Click on the images to download and view the ads (~6MB each).

Please Note: These ads cannot be used without permission from the Biodiversity Project.
